I have just returned from a weeks yoga holiday in Morocco, staying at a wonderful hotel just outside Marrakech. My daily yoga practice was enhanced with the most wonderful view of the Atlas Mountains -what a lucky girl!
I thought long and hard about which yoga mat to take with me this year and finally settled on the Manduka eKO Yoga Mat. I am so pleased that I did! We were practicing on the roof of the hotel on a concrete floor. The mat cushioned my knees well and gave great grip – which was a suprise considering the heat and dust! I am so glad I packed a travel bottle of Manduka Mat Restore yoga mat wash as I really needed it. I do not believe the eKO yoga mat would have performed as well if I had not been able to keep it clean with Manduka Yoga Mat Wash…. an essential piece of kit.
It reminded me yet again of the importance of keeping your yoga mat clean. I know I have said this before…I am sorry to repeat myself but your yoga mat (any yoga mat) will perform so much better if the surface is kept clean. Clean from general dust and dirt but also clean from sweat, dead skin cells (yuk) and grease. A mat which is clogged up will become slippery. After all we would not think twice about keeping other sports equipemt clean, so don’t forget your yoga mat – please

I have been researching the market for a while to find new products which I feel compliment the Manduka range of yoga mats, bags and accessories. I believe I have found the ideal partner in Sun Salutation yoga mats and bags.

I recently submitted three samples of the Manduka eKO Superlite Travel Mat to OM Magazine. OM were testing a huge range of yoga mats for the biggest survey on yoga mats available in the UK. They sent the mats off to three yoga studios for the teachers and students to try out.
The Manduka eKO Superlite Travel Mat scored very high marks as a travel yoga mat, notching up several 10’s in their survey…..

I have loved this travel yoga mat since its arrival in 2010. I have used it on a trip to Turkey where it performed well in the heat and also regularly take my travel mat to class with me. Its great to put on top of a studio mat. Fantastic grip and so much more hygienic than using a mat which has been used by countless others!
The mat is designed to be folded so is ideal to carry in your bag to work or in your backpack when on your travels. To top it all, its completely bio degradeable and so leaves no footprint in landfill.

How many times have you been in an intense posture on your mat and you start to slip? Lack of confidence in your mat can seriously affect your yoga practise. Purchasing a new mat is not always an option, especially in the current financial climate. We have the answer with the Manduka eQua Towel!
This towel has a suede-like surface unlike any other on the market. The Manduka eQua towel is the ‘next generation’ in multi-purpose towels, outperforming ordinary polyester or cotton towels. It absorbs more moisture and becomes slip resistant when damp. It is simple really, on days when my hands are slipping I just grab my Manduka eQua towel and place it on my mat; my hands then simply do not move! I often keep a small Manduka eQua towel near me for this purpose; as if I do have a slipping issue it is generally with my hands rather than my feet.
However its big brother the large Manduka eQua towel covers the whole mat, great for sweaty hands and feet. It is a must if you cannot take your yoga mat out and about with you as you can place the large towel on top of a studio yoga mat, great for a hygienic barrier. A recent study has shown that on average, there are 100,000 bacteria per square centimetre on a gym/studio yoga mat. On the back of that fact alone, the large Manduka eQua towel over a studio mat is an absolute must for me!
As well yoga, with its super absorbency the Manduka eQua towel is ideal as a germ-free, hypo-allergenic gym towel, light weight hiking or travel towel taking up a minimum amount of packing space.
